What is the NYSERDA Buildings of Excellence Competition?
NYSERDA’s Buildings of Excellence (BOE) Competition supports the design, construction, and operation of high-performing, low-carbon multifamily buildings throughout the state. This competition is open to projects in the early design phase. If you aim for sustainability, resilience, and long-term energy savings, this program is for you.
This latest round offers up to $1.5 million per project in available funding. The program promotes key goals, including:

Reduced energy use during peak periods
Use of low-GWP refrigerants and climate-smart systems

The competition is open to:
Developers, architects, and builders engaged in multifamily new construction projects
Projects of all sizes and sectors, including market rate, affordable, and supportive housing
Initiatives based anywhere in New York State
Design teams committed to integrating sustainability early in the planning process
Projects that include geothermal systems are particularly encouraged. These projects may qualify for enhanced funding opportunities.
