What is NYSERDA Buildings of Excellence?
NYSERDA’s Buildings of Excellence (BOE) Competition supports the design, construction, and operation of high-performing, low-carbon multifamily buildings across the state. It’s open to projects in the early design phase that are aiming for sustainability, resilience, and long-term energy savings.
This latest round offers up to $1.5 million per project in available funding.
The program promotes key goals including:
Geothermal heating and cooling
High-performance envelopes
Lower energy use during peak periods
Use of low-GWP refrigerants and climate-smart systems
Who Should Apply?
The competition is open to:
Developers, architects, and builders of multifamily new construction projects
All building sizes and sectors (market rate, affordable, supportive, etc.)
Projects located anywhere in New York State
Design teams looking to integrate sustainability early in the process
Projects that include geothermal systems are especially encouraged, as they may qualify for enhanced funding.
